Gold

gold bars and coins

Did you know that gold is very heavy, yet very soft? A cubic foot of Pure gold weighs 1200 pounds! That is 19,296 ounces, which on today’s market would be worth about 28 million dollars. Sooooooo, if you have a cubic foot of gold in your closet you can go ahead and quit work. Gold, as I mentioned, is very soft so they add metals like silver, copper, platinum, nickel or zinc to give it strength and durability. If they didn’t your jewelry would bend out of shape or break very easily. (Zinc and nickel are added to make white gold look white.) 14kt gold is 58.5% pure and 10kt is 41.7% pure and the rest are the aforementioned metal additives. Have you ever seen a movie where the thieves fill up a sack with bars of gold and throw the sack over a shoulder? Well next time you will know that is a Hollywood moment! If you have any gold laying around the house remember you have something of value! Even if its twisted or broken, gold is always gold and has that precious metal value.
